Well, this is the 1943 built RIVER CLASS FRIGATE

HMS HELMSDALE

1370 Tons, 301 feet long by 37 feet beam with 2 x 4" guns and 8 x 20mm cannons. Radio callsign GGMR.

She was broken-up at Faslane in 1957.

Helmsdale incidentally in not in North Yorkshire  [in the Dales] but in far away Northern Scotland, in Sutherland with the nearest town being Wick.  It is approximately 55 kM due north of Lossiemouth across the bay.
