LOTS AND LOTS OF SUBMARINES ON THIS PAGE.

JANUARY 2006.   However, from this list, which was copied from a book of British Callsigns, there is AT LEAST one callsign missing from the Admiralty Archives and as importantly, from Indicaties D'Appel, the ITU's list of callsigns of every ship, civil or war. The known missing callsign is that of HM Submarine Tapir which is GRKW

This was kindly pointed out to me by an old acquaintance of many years ago. John Birtwistle [a sparker of the old school {we served together in Lascaris Malta and in Boats} who now resides in Lossiemouth Scotland  <bert.janet@tiscali.co.uk> sent me an email and what follows is part of it.

............."Just out of curiosity tonight I ran 'ship callsigns' into the Google search and it brought up your site (managed to confirm what I remembered
my old ships callsigns were, with only one or two exceptions).

What happened to my old boat HM S/M Tapir  GRKW ?  She definitely existed, I spent many a happy freezing couple of hours
doing trot sentry during the night on her !!!!   (maybe 'happy' is stretching the use of the word too far!)"..................

Thank you John and I trust that this puts the list in order.

ON OTHER PAGES I HAVE SEEN MY OLD SHIPS AND THEIR CALLSIGNS PIECEMEAL, BUT ON THIS PAGE, THERE IS A GROUP OF THREE TOGETHER.

THEY ARE HMS TIGER, HMS TINTAGEL CASTLE AND HMS TIPTOE.
