QUESTION?

Why never ever a HMS MALTA {SEE BELOW}

or a HMS SINGAPORE or HMS HONG KONG or HMS PORTSMOUTH or HMS CHATHAM or HMS GIBRALTAR etc?

After all there was a HMS PLYMOUTH {and a DEVONSHIRE}, a HMS BERMUDA [?], HMS MAURITIUS [?] [Colonies and Dominions notwithstanding] but nothing to just show our appreciation for all the good run ashore's we had over hundreds of years in their backyards.

I propose for the next set of ships we buy to name them:-

HMS ROCK APE
HMS MALTA GC
HMS SINGERS
HMS HONKERS
HMS PLAYUP POMPEY
HMS CHATTY CHATS
HMS MERMAID CLUB
HMS DUFAIR CLUB
HMS CEYLON WEST

I found the answer to the Malta ship 'problem'.

Look here and specifically towards the text opposite the bottom of the picture which mention HMS Malta, the aircraft carrier.
