THE DARK DAYS!
With German U-Boats running rampant and our losses almost unbearable, it is quite amazing that so many changes and additions were made to conditions of service during this year. This page shows just a small, nay, tiny part of some of those changes.
The references used are from KRAI, Navy List, BR's and the Seamanship Manual for that period.
1. ORGANISATION:
As in all 'plates' displayed throughout the main page on The Royal Navy Warrant Officer [The Ranker], the plates shown here contain much information on the way the navy organised itself in those days. They in themselves, tell the story far better than I can do.
2. PROMOTIONS:
| 1 of 15 | 2 of 15 | 3 of 15 | 4 of 15 | 5 of 15 | 6 of 15 | 7 of 15 | 8 of 15 | 9 of 15 | 10 of 15 | 11 of 15 | 12 of 15 | 13 of 15 | 14 of 15 | 15 of 15 |
3. PAY/MISCELLANEOUS:
| 1 of 3a | 2 of 3a | 3 of 3a | 1 of 3b | 2 of 3b | 3 of 3b | 1 of 3c | 2 of 3c | 3 of 3c | 1 of 1 |
| 1 of 3d | 2 of 3d | 3 of 3d | |||||||
This
plate shows the TWELVE officer branches of the
Royal Navy, five on the left hand page and seven on
the right hand page.
Just another way of downloading a large plate to shorten the time it takes.
The thumbnail, when opened, forms the right hand page to the RANK AND COMMAND table.
Click on it, and then drag the open picture [use its title bar at the top] over on top of this text to align it horizontally, as far as is possible, with the left hand frame so that you can read left to right as normal.
The left hand picture, the BACKGROUND picture, is embedded in the page whilst the thumbnail picture is independent of the page and can be placed anywhere. Only one such FLOATING picture can be displayed at any one time.
